Big Ideas,
Real Impact.

You do not need to be fit before you begin. You will start at an appropriate level and gradually build your strength, mobility, fitness and confidence.

The LK FitLab Approach

Improving your health involves more than completing workouts. The programme brings together four important areas:

  • Exercise and everyday movement

  • Balanced nutrition and hydration

  • Sleep and recovery

  • Consistent, sustainable habits

Each area supports the others. You will learn more about nutrition, sleep, recovery and planning before beginning your first workout.

Why Training Matters

Losing weight and losing body fat are not exactly the same thing.

Your body weight includes fat, muscle, water, bones and everything else in your body. When the number on the scales decreases, the change may come from body fat, water, muscle or a combination of these.

The goal is not simply to become lighter. The goal is to reduce excess body fat while maintaining—or gradually building—the muscle that helps your body look firm, strong and healthy. This is known as improving your body composition.

Why We Prioritise Strength Training

Strength training asks your muscles to work against resistance. This resistance can come from your body weight, exercise bands, suspension equipment or weights.

With regular training, your muscles become stronger and can gradually increase in size. Strength training also helps you maintain muscle while losing body fat.

This is particularly important during weight loss. Someone can lose weight through dieting alone, but part of that weight may come from muscle. Combining balanced nutrition with strength training helps encourage your body to lose more fat while protecting valuable muscle tissue.

Beginners may even be able to build muscle while reducing body fat. Because of this, your body shape and measurements may improve even when the number on the scales changes slowly.

Cardio can burn calories, but it does not provide the same muscle-building stimulus as strength training. Genetics, bone structure and body-fat distribution also influence your natural shape, but developing the muscles can make a noticeable difference.

The Role of Cardio

Cardiovascular exercise is still important. It helps improve your heart and lung health, develops endurance and increases your overall activity and calorie expenditure.

However, cardio should complement strength training—not replace it.

  • A balanced programme uses both forms of training for their different benefits:

  • Strength training develops and protects muscle, improves strength and helps shape the body.

  • Mobility training helps you move more comfortably and maintain useful ranges of movement.

  • Cardio training improves endurance and supports heart and lung health.

The Focus of This Programme

The main focus of the LK FitLab programme is strength and mobility.

You will complete your full-body strength and mobility workout three times each week. You can also choose one low-impact interval workout from the programme as an optional additional session.

Walking and other enjoyable everyday activities are encouraged throughout the week. They support your cardiovascular health without replacing the strength training your muscles need.

Think of it this way:

Strength training changes what your body can do and helps improve what it is made of. Cardio supports your endurance, heart health and overall activity. You need both—but they serve different purposes.

How the 12 Weeks Work

The programme contains one structured full-body workout for each week.

Complete the weekly workout three times before progressing to the following week. Repeating the same workout allows you to become familiar with the exercises, improve your technique and recognise your progress.

A suitable schedule could be:

  • Monday: Workout

  • Tuesday: Recovery

  • Wednesday: Repeat the workout

  • Thursday: Recovery

  • Friday: Repeat the workout

  • Saturday: Optional walking, another enjoyable activity or one of the low-impact interval circuit workouts

  • Sunday: Recovery

You can choose different days to suit your routine. Whenever possible, leave at least one recovery day between the main workouts.

How to Complete Each Week

Follow these steps:

  1. Read the weekly workout instructions.

  2. Complete the standard warm-up.

  3. Choose the exercise variation appropriate for your current ability.

  4. Complete the workout at a controlled pace.

  5. Cool down and allow your breathing to settle.

  6. Repeat the workout twice more during the week.

  7. Mark the weekly lesson as complete after your third session.

You can then continue to the following week.

Progress at Your Own Level

Every person begins from a different starting point. Use easier exercise variations whenever necessary and increase the difficulty only when your technique feels comfortable and controlled.

The objective is not to finish every workout exhausted. The objective is to move well, use sensible effort and establish a routine you can maintain.

A controlled modified exercise is always more valuable than a difficult exercise completed with poor technique.

If You Miss a Workout

Missing one workout does not mean you have failed or need to restart the programme.

Do not try to complete several workouts together to catch up. Continue from where you stopped and adjust your schedule. Taking slightly longer than 12 weeks is completely acceptable.

Consistency over time matters more than following a perfect calendar.

Before Starting Week 1

Complete the remaining Start Here lessons covering:

  • Safety and when to stop

  • Choosing the correct exercise level

  • Nutrition and the 80/20 approach

  • Sleep and recovery

  • Warming up and cooling down

  • Planning and tracking your progress

Once you understand these foundations, you will be ready to begin Week 1.

Your First Goal

Your first goal is simple: show up consistently.

Build consistency. Learn the movements. Start strong.
